Winter Forest Relaxation Salts
This blend uses evergreen scents and soothing minerals to mimic the feeling of a crisp winter walk. You can make it as a special gift for yourself, or a friend or loved one who needs a winter pick-me-up.
What You’ll Need
- 2 cups Epsom Salt: Great for relaxing tired muscles.
- 1/2 cup Sea Salt or Himalayan Pink Salt: Adds beautiful texture and minerals.
- 1/4 cup Dried Herbs: A mix of dried Rosemary (for clarity) and Juniper Berries or Cedar tips (for that holiday scent).
- 10–15 drops Essential Oil: Pine, Fir Needle, or Cedarwood work best for a holiday theme.
- 1 tbsp Carrier Oil (Optional): Jojoba or Almond oil helps the essential oils mix into the water safely.
Instructions
- Mix the Salts: In a large glass bowl, combine the Epsom salt and the sea salt. Stir well with a wooden spoon.
- Scent the Blend: If using a carrier oil, mix your essential oils into that first. Then, drizzle the oil over the salts and stir thoroughly to ensure the scent is evenly distributed.
- Add the Botanicals: Gently fold in your dried rosemary and berries. The green of the herbs against the white salt looks like snow under a pine tree.
- Jar it Up: Transfer the mixture into clean glass jars. Small mason jars or cork-topped vials work beautifully.
- Seal and Decorate: Tighten the lid to keep the moisture out and the scent in.
Gifting & Presentation Tips
To make it feel like a professional boutique gift, try these small touches:
- The Label: Create a small tag that says "A Winter's Soak" with instructions: "Add 1/2 cup to a warm bath and breathe deep."
- The Ribbon: Tie a sprig of fresh pine or a small cinnamon stick to the lid using twine.
- Safety Note: It’s always helpful to include a small ingredient list on the back of the tag, just in case the recipient has skin sensitivities or allergies.
Special Tip: If you're worried about herbs floating in the tub and making a mess, include a small reusable muslin tea bag with the gift. The recipient can fill the bag with the salts and drop the whole thing in the water.
