Seriously Good Freezer Meals: 150 Easy Recipes to Save Your Time, Money & Sanity

By Karrie Truman

Robert Rose Inc., 2018

367 pages

I have always been drawn to the idea of homemade freezer meals. How much time would it save? Not only that, but you can also take off from the headache of meal planning and cooking whenever you want, not have to buy takeout on the fly, and save tons of money. Yet it has been hard for me to experiment with type of cooking as hubby hates casseroles. How to manage a day of kitchen cooking? Won't the meals taste like frozen?

Author Karrie Truman kicks all those worries to the curb. Not only is the book filled with delightful new recipes that have a wide variety (including fried rice, fajitas and wraps) and not all are casseroles.  There are answers to every question you have.  And she has tips to make the food taste heavenly from the freezer.  Don't have an extra freezer?  No worries there.  With her methods and storage ideas, you can pack up to 30 frozen meals in a regular refrigerator freezer (she used a top freezer when she started but has since upgraded to a separate extra freezer).

I can't wait to try the Creamy, Cheesy Broccoli Soup (p. 100), or the Hazelnut Pear Chicken, the Rosemary Pot Roast, or her specialty Amazing Macaroni and Cheese (p. 254), with Italian seasoning.  I love the crisp and colorful pictures (in my opinion something that makes cookbooks so appealing).  She includes, breakfast, meatless main dishes, appetizers, meat-based dishes, side dishes and desserts.  It's the kind of cookbook I like to sit and pore over in the evening, then cook with the next day.  That's a big endorsement for me.  I am sure if you are interested in saving time and money in the kitchen you will want to try this book out, and even get it for your recipe bookshelf.
